Why pay more?

New video explains DIM weight pricing changes

The Postal Service has released a dimensional (DIM) weight video to remind customers that when it comes to mailing packages with other shipping services, weight and size matter.

USPS competitors are raising their DIM weight prices for 2015, the narrator explains. This means the companies will charge customers by a package’s actual weight or its dimensional weight — the amount of space it takes up — whichever is greater.

Viewers also are told how businesses can save money by shipping with the Postal Service and avoid paying more than necessary for their small package distribution.

In August, USPS also introduced TV, print and digital ads to highlight its shipping options.
