Never underestimate the power of a handwritten letter — as one basketball fan who uses the Reddit online bulletin board will tell you.
The fan, who goes by the name Sibewolf, wrote letters to all 30 National Basketball Association (NBA) teams, asking why he should root for them.
Only the Minnesota Timberwolves responded, sending Sibewolf a list of the top 10 reasons the team deserves his support and a basketball autographed by several players.
“Needless to say, I’m a Timberwolves fan now,” Sibewolf wrote on Reddit.
This isn’t the first time mail has proven an effective method for sports teams to win recruits.
NBA blogger Lang Whitaker, who reported on Sibewolf’s experience last week, recalled receiving an autograph and memorabilia from the San Antonio Spurs.
Meanwhile, an Oklahoma boy recently received a signed helmet from the Carolina Panthers after writing to the 32 National Football League (NFL) teams.
