Who says money doesn’t fly?

North Chicago, IL, Letter Carrier Randy Wells was delivering mail recently when he noticed a wallet on a sidewalk. There were a few credit and debit cards nearby, along with several bills that went airborne as cars whizzed by.

Wells collected the wallet, cards and cash and turned them over to Postmaster Jeannie McLaughlin, who tracked down the owner.

When the woman visited the Post Office to claim her belongings, she explained they went missing during a bike ride. She cried when she realized Wells had retrieved most of the money.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Wells’ integrity and honesty,” McLaughlin said. “His actions are to be commended, as he is the perfect example of what a postal employee is supposed to be.”
