Lean Leader program graduates inaugural class

Nine employees have completed advanced training to help the Postal Service become more efficient and customer-focused.

The Lean Leader program is available to employees who have achieved black belt certification through the Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement process.

The inaugural class graduated July 17. The graduates are:

  • David Garrett, maintenance management specialist, Oklahoma City
  • Jason Hewitt, in-plant support manager, Charlotte, NC
  • Maryam Iman, international transportation operations specialist, headquarters
  • Steve Mummy, finance systems specialist, St. Paul, MN
  • Phil Murphy, maintenance management specialist, Oklahoma City
  • John Prokity, operations specialist, Charleston, WV
  • Donald Stup, Postmaster, Charlottesville, VA
  • Rick Thompson, Postmaster, San Antonio
  • Gun Udomsawat, operations industrial engineer, headquarters

The Office of Continuous Improvement administers the 10-month program, which includes four weeks of classroom training, along with group projects, visits to retail and processing facilities, and more.

Throughout the program, participants learn advanced continuous improvement concepts and techniques that can be applied throughout the Postal Service.
