National rating rises sharply

Scanning helps the Postal Service improve efficiency and network management.

The national scanning score for the week ending Aug. 7 was 96.8 percent, up sharply from one week earlier.

Western (97.27 percent) led the area standings. Capital Metro (96.97 percent) finished second for the second consecutive week, while Eastern (96.74 percent) climbed three spots to take third.

Among the districts, Sierra Coastal (97.83 percent) grabbed the top spot, rising from 18th place. Dakotas (97.74 percent) climbed one spot to finish second, while Northland (97.71 percent) rose four spots to take third.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and other mail. It also helps the Postal Service improve efficiency and network management.
