Western Area, Sacramento District lead performance standings

Scanning helps USPS track mailpieces and containers throughout the postal network.

Western Area and Sacramento District set the pace in scanning performance during the week ending Aug. 21.

Western (97.49 percent) once again led the areas. Capital Metro (97.08 percent) finished second for the third consecutive week, while Southern (96.83 percent) was third, up from fifth place one week earlier.

Among the districts, Sacramento (98.02 percent) finished first, climbing four spots. Hawkeye (97.96 percent) was second, up five spots, while Dakotas (97.88 percent) was third.

The national rating was 96.84 percent, up slightly from one week earlier.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and other mail. It also helps the Postal Service improve efficiency and network management.
