Some benefits can be changed after open season

Qualifying life events
Open season is over, but employees can still change their benefits if they experience a “qualifying life event.”

Open season is over, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to wait until next year to change your benefits.

You also can make changes if you experience a “qualifying life event,” such as a birth, death, marriage, divorce or change in employment status.

Employees and annuitants have 60 days to make changes after one of these events.

Missing an opportunity to make these changes could mean wasting money or not having the coverage you and your family need, experts say.

Additionally, the Postal Service has extended the deadline to enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) until Monday, Dec. 21.

More information is available on the LiteBlue benefits page.
