Postal Service launches new search tool for lost mail

New software makes it easier to search for items at the Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta.
New software makes it easier to search for items at the Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta.

The Mail Recovery Center (MRC) in Atlanta recently implemented the Search and Inventory System, a software application that allows users to search for lost mail in the MRC database.

The search starts when employees submit an electronic search form. A link to the form is available through the My Post Office (MyPO) application and will be added to the Mail Recovery Center site.

The software searches the MRC database for lost mailpieces until they are found or the retention period expires. Customers will receive search updates periodically while employees will receive them in the next release.

Search and Inventory System training is available on the main page of the application.

This new capability will allow the Postal Service to increase the number of mail pieces returned or forwarded to customers, improving their experiences.
