Agency uses First-Class Mail for educational campaign

A federal agency recently used First-Class Mail to show consumers how to protect themselves from identity theft, generating $4.1 million in new revenue for the Postal Service.

The sale began when Capital District Federal Sr. Sales Executive James Jones met with the agency’s representatives and explained how they could use mailings to provide the public with identity theft prevention tips.

“There’s no better way to reach consumers than the mail,” Jones said.

The agency also met with Washington, DC, Strategic Account Manager Ron Kecman and Richmond, VA, Business Alliances Specialist Steven Booker. After several discussions, the agency’s representatives agreed to incorporate First-Class Mail into their educational efforts.

Jones believes more agencies will follow.

“Agencies are starting to realize there is still value in the mail, even when they are being mandated to communicate everything electronically,” he said.
