Scanning scorecard

The national scanning rating hit 96.73 percent during the week ending Sept. 4, up almost a full percentage point from one week earlier.

Portland (98.03 percent) surged six spots to lead the districts. Hawkeye (97.92 percent) was second, while Sacramento (97.69 percent) climbed three spots to finish third.

Western (97.4 percent) once again led the areas. In second and third place, respectively, were Capital Metro (96.89 percent) and Great Lakes (96.75 percent), which each rose one spot.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and other mail. It also helps the Postal Service improve efficiency and network management.
