The Postal Service and PostNord of Sweden celebrated the new Ingrid Bergman stamps Sept. 9 in Washington, DC.

“As an actress … she delivered performances that made good movies great and great movies classics,” Acting Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Jim Cochrane said at the event, which was held at the Swedish Embassy.

Other speakers at the special dedication ceremony included Sweden’s ambassador to the United States, Björn Lyrvall, and Bergman’s daughter, Pia Lindström.

The Swedish-born Bergman remains one of America’s most celebrated actresses. Her body of work is comprised of more than 50 films spanning five decades, including “Gaslight,” “Anastasia” and a universal favorite, “Casablanca.”

The Postal Service and PostNord jointly issued stamps honoring Bergman Aug. 20. The stamps can be purchased online and at Post Offices nationwide.
