Employees receive career advice at conference

Dayton, OH, Mailing Requirements Clerk Karen Oberkrom speaks to Ohio Valley District Manager Sam Jaudon at the conference.

More than 200 Postal Service employees received advice on moving forward in their careers at a recent conference organized by Ohio Valley District.

The meeting included workshops on topics such as career path development, job interviewing skills and understanding the eCareer application process.

Also, during several “Spotlight on You” sessions, employees shared their professional accomplishments and aspirations with a panel of USPS executives.

“I know I want to be in management,” said Reynoldsburg, OH, City Carrier Assistant Brandon Winkley, who is completing a master’s degree. “I’m here today to figure out exactly how to get to that point.”

Career conferences are part of the Postal Service’s effort to invest in its workforce, said District Manager Sam Jaudon. He encouraged participants to continue developing their skills.

“That’s what it takes to get ahead in any organization — having the will and desire to invest in yourself,” Jaudon said.

The conference also included a reception where attendees met USPS executives and other managers.

Dayton, OH, Retail Associate Timia Stephens said he appreciated the opportunity to share his ideas with postal leaders.

“I want to do my part to help the Postal Service continue to be number one,” Stephens said.
