October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, which recognizes the contributions of employees with disabilities. This year’s theme: “My disability is one part of who I am.”

The Postal Service is joining other federal agencies that participate in this annual campaign, which is marking its 70th anniversary. The 2015 activities also honor the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities.

USPS offers a National Disability Employment Awareness Month online resource kit, which includes overviews of disability employment policy, assistive technology for employees with disabilities, and other topics. The kit also includes links to educational sites.

Additionally, employees can find information about the Postal Service’s reasonable accommodation policy and disability employment awareness on the National Disability Program’s site.

Information also is available on the federal Office of Disability Employment Policy’s site.
