Service lets customers redirect packages

Customers can use the online Delivery Instructions service to redirect their incoming packages.

Reminder: USPS offers Delivery Instructions, a service that allows customers to redirect their incoming packages to an alternate address or hold them for pickup at a Post Office.

Customers also can select a desired location for carriers to leave their packages, such as a front or back door, a garage or porch, or a neighbor’s address.

“The ability to leave a package with a trusted proxy until you can get there really provides an extra layer of security for customers,” said New Products and Innovation VP Gary Reblin.

The service also eliminates the need to schedule a re-delivery, and it reduces the number of failed delivery attempts.

Delivery Instructions is part of the Postal Service’s efforts to grow its package business. More information is available through My USPS.com.
