Postal Service employees who work with sensitive information should protect it from unauthorized access, the CyberSafe at USPS team advises.

Sensitive information includes printed and digital proprietary documents and other material.

To keep sensitive printed material secure:

  • Cross-shred or appropriately dispose of documents that are no longer needed.
  • Store sensitive documents in a locked cabinet or desk.
  • Don’t copy or print documents where they could be viewed by unauthorized individuals.

To keep sensitive digital information secure, use passwords to lock workstations, laptops and mobile devices.

Also, never store sensitive information on personal devices.

More information about storing sensitive information is available in Handbook AS-805-C: Information Security Requirements for All Personnel.
