Delivering Trust

Inspection Service site offers tips, more

Barbara Eden warns against mail scams in a new Postal Inspection Service video.

People know scammers want to steal their money. What they may not know is how to spot these thieves and their tricks.

To help consumers protect themselves, the Postal Inspection Service recently introduced Delivering Trust, a site that offers tips on avoiding common scams involving foreign lotteries and sweepstakes.

Delivering Trust also includes a series of public service announcements featuring “I Dream of Jeannie” star Barbara Eden and Adam West and Julie Newmar of the 1960s “Batman” TV series.

“Foreign lotteries and sweepstake scams are robbing Americans of their life savings — and no amount of wishing can get their hard-earned money back,” Eden says in one video. “Don’t get scammed. Get the facts.”

In another segment, Assistant Inspector in Charge Paul Krenn discusses the need to spread the word about the dangers of mail scams.

“The goal is to change behavior — to educate and help people from becoming a victim of crime,” Krenn says.

Other Delivering Trust highlights include stories from the Inspection Service’s case files, a section that allows users to report mail fraud, and links where users can watch episodes of The Inspectors TV series.
