Online exhibit celebrates women

The 19th Amendment stamp, issued in 1998, is part of the National Postal Museum’s online exhibit.

Sacagawea, Betsy Ross and Sojourner Truth have more in common than shaping American history — they and many other pioneering women have also appeared on U.S. postage stamps.

To mark Women’s History Month, the National Postal Museum is showcasing these stamps through an online exhibit.

The four segments highlight such women as Eleanor Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman, Helen Keller, Frieda Kahlo, Judy Garland, author Laura Ingalls Wilder and gospel singer Mahalia Jackson.

Milestones, such as the passage of the 19th Amendment, also are included.
