The periodicals industry has honored Northeast Area VP Richard P. Uluski with one of its most prestigious commendations.

He received the William Strong Service Award from the Red Tag News Publications Association at a ceremony last week.

The award, which honors individuals who provide outstanding service to the industry, has been given only four times since its creation 45 years ago.

“This recognition reflects the works of so many behind the scenes, in the Northeast and around the country,” said Uluski, who will retire June 3 after 36 years with the Postal Service.

“Over the years, we have asked these mailers to make tremendous adjustments in preparation, presentation and payment systems as our mutual capacities changed greatly.”

James Franklin, the association’s executive director, praised Uluski during the award presentation.

“You have always been a strong supporter of periodicals. You will be missed,” Franklin said.

Uluski has led the area — which spans several states and territories and has 90,000 employees — since 2011. He began his career as a New Haven, CT, letter-sorting machine operator in 1980.
