October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, which honors the contributions of employees with disabilities and promotes a diverse workforce inclusive of their talents and skills.

Along with other federal agencies, the Postal Service is observing the annual effort, which began in 1945.

This year’s theme is “#InclusionWorks.” The hashtag is intended to spur individuals and groups to post images and encourage discussion on social media about the many ways disability inclusion “works” for opportunity, business and innovation.

The Postal Service offers a National Disability Employment Awareness Month online resource kit that includes information about disability employment policy, celebrating people with disabilities through stamps, and links to various educational sites.

Employees can find information about disability employment awareness and inclusion at the National Disability Program’s site.

The federal Office of Disability Employment Policy’s site has more information about National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
