Video shows how TV ads were made

The employees featured in the Postal Service’s new holiday TV ads are expressing pride in the organization’s efforts to deliver cheer.

“More people are ordering packages online, so we play a major role in getting those packages to the customers,” Amber Rising, a Westminster, CA, letter carrier, says in a new behind-the-scenes video that shows how the ads were filmed.

Mike Malcolm, a Lakewood, CA, city carrier assistant, says the ads underscore the Postal Service’s important role in online commerce.

“People don’t really think about it, but pretty much everything you order off [the internet] comes through us,” he says.

The holiday ad campaign debuted this week and will continue throughout November and December.

Brand Marketing Executive Director Chris Karpenko says the spots build on the theme of this year’s spring and summer advertising campaign, which emphasized how USPS becomes an extension of the businesses that it serves.

“When you hand over your package, your business becomes our business,” Karpenko says. “There are 600,000 employees out there moving mail, moving packages every day, and doing it in a reliable, trusted way.”
