The Postal Service’s supplier diversity program is getting attention from Savoy, a newsmagazine that covers a variety of topics, including business, education and technology.
USPS is “a recognized leader in multicultural business opportunities,” the publication reported in its latest issue.
The article noted that in fiscal 2015, the Postal Service had contract commitments that exceeded $4.5 billion with small businesses, $527 million with minority-owned businesses and $766 million with woman-owned businesses.
“The Postal Service depends on small, minority and woman-owned businesses to provide top-quality equipment, facilities, services and supplies to meet our needs,” Supplier Diversity Program Manager Rupert Warner told the publication.
Warner and his team regularly conduct workshops and one-on-one meetings with diverse small businesses.
As part of its outreach program, the Postal Service also attends multicultural business trade shows and is a member of several small-business trade associations. USPS has also created materials to further assist companies that want to work with the organization.
The organization’s supplier diversity efforts have helped “propel the Postal Service as the country’s top government agency for multicultural business opportunities,” Savoy reported.
