Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.53 percent during the week ending Jan. 20, up from one week earlier.
Dakotas (98.7 percent) topped the districts, while Western (97.8 percent) led the areas.
Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail. It also helps the Postal Service improve efficiency and network management.
Scores and standings change continually. To see the latest results, go to the Enterprise Analytics site and select “Scanning” on the left hand side, and then “DES 2 — Scan Performance” from the drop-down options.
Still going strong. Small businesses continue to rely on the mail to communicate with their customers, newly compiled research shows.
The report from the Small Business Trends news site shows companies mailed more than 150 million promotional pieces in 2015. Forty-two percent of recipients read or scanned these pieces.
The statistics also include the results of a consumer survey that show 54 percent of consumers say they want to receive mail from brands they’re interested in.
According to other data, consumers overwhelmingly enjoy receiving “postal mail” about new products and feel mail is more personal than the internet.
