Lunar New Year

Video shows stamp dedication highlights

In a new video, the Postal Service shares highlights from the recent Year of the Rooster stamp dedication.

The 1-minute segment shows Western Area VP Greg Graves speaking at the ceremony, which was held this month at the Wing Luke Museum in Seattle.

The video also includes brief comments from the ceremony’s participants, including Beth Takekawa, the museum’s executive director and the daughter of a longtime postal worker.

“I, personally, am a child of the Post Office,” Takekawa says. “It’s kind of a special significance for me to have this ceremony here, where I work. I feel like it’s honoring my dad’s history, too.”

Assunta Ng, founder and publisher of the Seattle Chinese Post and Northwest Asian Weekly, notes that a previous Celebrating Lunar New Year stamp was also dedicated in the city.

“You can imagine my excitement, right?” she says.

Year of the Rooster is being sold in souvenir sheets of 12 at Post Offices and usps.com.
