Domtar Corp., one of the nation’s top paper producers, continues to rely on the Postal Service to deliver many of its products, the company’s chief executive officer says.

The Fort Mill, SC-based company’s products — used in everything from copy paper to takeout containers — are sold throughout the United States and overseas.

“Domtar is committed to making life better every day through our paper, pulp and personal care products. We believe that by working together … with the mailing industry and the U.S. Postal Service, the future of paper and Domtar will be bright,” John Williams, the company’s president and chief executive officer, tells the National Postal Museum.

Williams’ comments are part of “America’s Mailing Industry,” an online exhibit showcasing how USPS and businesses work together.

To educate the public about paper products and their contributions to the economy, Domtar and a coalition of paper and packaging companies recently launched a $20 million, multi-media promotional campaign.

One goal: to encourage letter writing.

“We are certainly not trying to break up the digital revolution,” Williams says. “I have my iPhone and iPad. But we are trying to show people how paper can serve them in their lives.”
