Who is Rachel Moyer?

A Postal Service employee who’ll appear on the “Jeopardy!” episode scheduled to air Thursday, March 9.

Moyer, a Charlotte, NC, operations support specialist, said it was an eye-opening experience.

After performing well during a June 2015 audition, Moyer remained in the candidate pool until November 2016, when she was called to Los Angeles to participate in a taping.

Moyer had four weeks to prepare. She spent the time studying a trivia book geared toward game show contestants.

On the day of the taping, Moyer waited in a green room with other contestants.

“We had a practice round so we could get used to the bright lights and using the buzzer,” she said. “We didn’t know until five minutes before that we were to go on stage.”

The taping itself was fast-paced — until the end.

Contestants get several minutes to answer the final “Jeopardy!” question, though the time appears shorter to TV viewers.

Moyer also learned a whole week of shows are taped in one day — three episodes in the morning and two in the afternoon.

Although she isn’t permitted to discuss the outcome of her episode before it airs, she said she plans to keep her day job.
