Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.64 percent during the week ending March 24, up from one week earlier.
Dakotas (98.98 percent) topped the districts, while Western (97.83 percent) led the areas.
Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail. It also helps the Postal Service improve efficiency and network management.
Scores and standings change continually. To see the latest results, go to the Enterprise Analytics site and select “Scanning” on the left hand side, and then “DES 2 — Scan Performance” from the drop-down options.
Thoreau stamp. USPS will release its Henry David Thoreau stamp May 23.
The stamp, which was announced last fall, showcases a painting of the19th century writer and philosopher.

Height honored. The Postal Service held a special dedication for the Dorothy Height stamp in Denver last week.
The ceremony, part of a National Council of Negro Women meeting, featured Mary Louise Lee, Denver’s first lady, and Wilma Webb, one of Lee’s predecessors.
