Two retired Springfield, OH, employees recently said their “I do’s” after meeting at the Post Office more than two decades ago.

Cephas Stover, who delivered mail for 57 years, married his longtime girlfriend, Bonita Wipert, a retired retail associate, after 26 years, the Springfield News-Sun reported.

Bonita recalled the day she met Cephas, a beloved figure in the community.

“He turned in a pink slip one day and I went to get it and our hands touched and, I’m not kidding, it was electricity,” she said.

The wedding was March 15. When asked why the time was right to deliver their vows, Bonita said they’d waited long enough.

“I don’t know,” she said. “I just picked the Ides of March. …I just thought it was a good day. Why not?”
