Tips for tax season offered

The IRS.gov and USA.gov sites offer guidance for taxpayers.

Although each tax season can bring unique challenges, there are ways to make sure you and your family are prepared.

To start, remember to gather all necessary information, including:

  • W-2, 1099 income and 1095-A health insurance forms
  • Receipts, mileage and similar information
  • Interest, investments and retirement account details

If you owe money, you may be able to avoid a lump sum payment by arranging a payment plan with the IRS.

The IRS.gov site has several tools to provide additional guidance when filing, including Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs.

The USA.gov site has additional information on filing status, dependent claims and more.

The Postal Service does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. Before engaging in any transaction, you should consult your own tax, legal and accounting advisors.
