Flag reminder, stamp dedication news

USPS employee prepares to raise POW-MIA flag
Kyle Indra, a U.S. Army veteran and custodian at the Madison, WI, Processing and Distribution Center, prepares to raise the POW-MIA flag. USPS facilities that are open July 4 are required to display the POW-MIA flag.

Flag reminder. Tuesday, July 4, is Independence Day, one of six days each year Postal Service facilities are required to fly the POW-MIA flag.

The flag honors the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces held as prisoners of war or listed as missing in action.

Facilities that are open July 4 must display the POW-MIA flag. The POW-MIA flag must fly below the U.S. flag.

For additional information, refer to the Postal Service’s online guidelines on U.S. flag display and maintenance, as well as requirements for displaying the POW-MIA flag.

Berry good. The Postal Service recently held a special dedication for the new Strawberries stamp at a strawberry festival in Troy, OH.

The 3-cent additional postage stamp features three ripe, red strawberries surrounded by leaves and hulls, and three smaller, green strawberries in various stages of growth.

The stamp, which was released in May, is available at Post Offices and usps.com.
