Video highlights Thoreau event

A new video from the Postal Service takes viewers behind the scenes of the recent Henry David Thoreau stamp dedication ceremony.

The event was held at Walden Pond in Concord, MA, where the celebrated writer, philosopher and naturalist lived from 1845-1847.

“The great ideas that began here at Walden Pond have reached the far corners of the globe and have inspired … millions of people worldwide,” actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr., one of the speakers at the ceremony, says in the video.

The 50-second video also features remarks from USPS General Counsel Tom Marshall, who recalls how Thoreau’s writing explored “humanity’s role in the natural world.”
