Caution and care

USPS offers labels reminder

The latest Postal Bulletin offers reminders about the Caution Heavy and Special Handling — Fragile labels.

The Postal Service is reminding employees about two labels for mailpieces that are heavy or require special handling:

• Caution Heavy (Label 035CH) is for packages that weigh 35 pounds or more. Retail associates should affix this label to packages at retail counters.

Business mailers can order these free labels from the online Postal Store.

• Special Handling — Fragile (Label 875) provides preferential handling for packages with the fragile designation, for a fee, but does not insure the item against loss or damage.

Both labels are part of the Postal Service’s ongoing efforts to improve shipping, along with simplified marking and documentation requirements for certain products and the elimination of some forms at Retail Systems Software sites.

The Postal Bulletin’s Aug. 4 edition has more information about both labels.
