Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.77 percent during the week ending Aug. 11, up from one week earlier.
Western (98.21 percent) topped the areas, while Dakotas (99.19 percent) led the districts.

Cut it out. The Postal Service is reminding plant employees not to cut plastic mail registry sacks.
The organization is deploying polypropylene plastic First-Class Mail registered sacks to replace the canvas pouches currently used. The sacks can be ordered from Mail Transport Equipment Service Centers.
The two-layer plastic sacks are secured through the sack itself with a yellow bar-coded zip tie.
Each sack has neck area above the fill line for easy handling after the sack has been closed and cinched.
Cutting the sacks could damage the contents after the mailbags have been sealed. Handling the sacks by the security seal or “bumming” the sacks could cause further damage.
