Western was the area leader in scanning during the week ending Sept. 8, while Dakotas finished first among the districts.

Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.5 percent during the week ending Sept. 8, down from one week earlier.

Dakotas (99.07 percent) topped the districts, while Western (97.93 percent) led the areas.

To see the latest results, go to the Enterprise Analytics site and select “Scanning” on the left hand side, and then “DES 2 — Scan Performance” from the drop-down options.

Encore, encore! The Kingman, KS, Post Office recently brought Mr. ZIP out of “retirement” to take another turn in the spotlight.

After reading Link’s recent list on ZIP Code facts, the Kingman employees decided to bring a Mr. ZIP display out of storage and place it in the lobby, where he’s being used to highlight postal trivia and history.

“We wanted to draw publicity to the Post Office and have some fun at the same time,” said Customer Services Supervisor Linda Hague. “It is very interesting to listen to both employees’ and customers’ reactions and memories [about him].”

Flag reminder. Postal Service facilities are required to display the POW-MIA flag Sept. 15, which is POW-MIA Recognition Day. The POW-MIA flag must fly below the U.S. flag, and both flags should be flown at full staff.

Casting call update. The Postal Service has extended the deadline for employees to audition for this year’s holiday TV campaign. The new deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 5 p.m. EDT. The USPS Holiday 2017 Employee Casting site has audition instructions.
