Lack of sleep can impair health

Don’t let this happen to you.

The USPS Wellness team is reminding employees to be mindful of sleep deficiency.

Approximately 50 million-70 million people have chronic sleep disorders, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Employees who have trouble sleeping, come to work sleepy or wake up overly tired should know that in the long term, a lack of sleep can prevent the brain from working properly and affect overall health.

Here are the team’s tips to improve the quality of your sleep:

  • Avoid heavy meals a couple of hours before bedtime
  • Try to keep a consistent sleep schedule, including weekends or days off
  • Increase physical activity daily
  • Use relaxation techniques before going to bed, including turning off all electronics one hour before bedtime
