Weather watch. Hurricane Maria slammed Puerto Rico Sept. 20, bringing extreme winds and torrential rains that knocked out power to the entire island.

All Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands postal facilities closed in preparation for the storm. As soon as it is safe to do so, USPS will begin to re-open these facilities.

Check the USPS Service Alerts page for updates.

PERF reminder. USPS employees can make financial contributions to the Postal Employees’ Relief Fund (PERF) to help colleagues affected by the recent hurricanes.

This special solicitation is not part of the Combined Federal Campaign, the annual charity drive for federal workplaces.

The PERF site has more information.
