The Postal Service is reminding employees to use the Enterprise Encryption Service (EES) when emailing sensitive information to authorized individuals outside the organization.
When emailing sensitive information, follow these steps:
- Add #sensitive# to the subject line of the email.
- Attach the necessary documents or zip file. You don’t need to protect documents with a password.
- Hit the “Send” button.
The recipients will receive an email with instructions on how to access the encrypted content.
Employees are advised to contact the recipient to confirm the EES message was received and accessed successfully. Blue has more information about external sharing.
If you suspect USPS data has been compromised, don’t attempt to fix the situation yourself. Instead, report it immediately by emailing the CyberSecurity Operations Center at email@example.com.
