Scott Zoll, a Boonville, IN, retail associate, is joined by Sgt. Roy Lee and his wife Minnie during a recent Honor Flight of Southern Indiana trip to Washington, DC.

Scott Zoll is doing his part to honor the nation’s military veterans.

The Boonville, IN, retail associate is a regular participant in Honor Flight of Southern Indiana, one of several Honor Flight organizations across the nation that bring veterans to Washington, DC, to visit memorials to their service.

The trips are often brief but include multiple activities, including homecoming ceremonies where the veterans are greeted by throngs of cheering loved ones.

Zoll began volunteering for Honor Flight of Southern Indiana as a guardian who travels with individual veterans. Since then, he has served as a bus captain, making sure all participants get on and off one of the four buses used to transport them around town during their visits to DC.

Zoll, a Marine Corps veteran, participated in his seventh Honor Flight trip last month. He is one of several Postal Service employees who volunteer for local Honor Flight organizations.

“I do it so none of these people who fought for us are forgotten,” Zoll said.
