Veterans Day, a day to honor individuals who have served in the U.S. armed forces, is Saturday, Nov. 11.

The holiday holds special significance for the Postal Service, one of the nation’s largest civilian employers of veterans.

“On behalf of all 640,000 Postal Service employees, thank you, veterans, for all you have done in service of the nation. We are proud and honored that you have chosen to continue your service to America at the Postal Service,” PMG Megan J. Brennan wrote in a message to employees this week.

This year, the Postal Service will honor employees who are veterans with a special lapel pin, along with a recognition letter from the PMG.

USPS also honors veterans and members of the military through its stamp program, including the recent Honoring Extraordinary Heroes: The Service Cross Medals stamps.

Additionally, the Postal Service recently introduced Mail Call, a quarterly publication for employees who served in the military.
