Commercial appeal

Holiday ads receive accolades

The new “Biggest Gift” ad
The new “Biggest Gift” ad is a holiday hit for the Postal Service.

The Postal Service’s new holiday television campaign is receiving praise from employees and the advertising industry itself.

“Biggest Gift,” which follows a young boy wishing to replace his teddy bear’s missing nose, debuted this month. The child is played by Jeremy Maguire, who appears on “Modern Family” as the son of Ed O’Neill and Sofía Vergara’s characters.

The trade publication Adweek recently featured the commercial in an article that showed how the spot also promotes the Postal Service’s reliability and its new Informed Delivery feature.

The Drum, an industry news site, also weighed in, reporting that the ad’s “warm and fuzzy holiday tone” has made it a hit with consumers.

Employees like the spot, too.

“In the middle of the hectic moments here at USPS, I will remember the warmth and happiness conveyed in this vignette,” said Melissa Langham, a retail associate in Hasty, CO.

A Spanish-language ad, “Spanglish,” which also began airing this month, is another holiday hit.

“‘Spanglish’ is awesome,” said Mariela Rendon, a business development specialist in Anaheim, CA. “I’m so proud to work for an organization that allows me to serve diverse communities.”
