Remembering Jacob. Jacob Thompson, a 9-year-old Maine boy whose recent request for holiday cards went viral, died this week.

Jacob’s family announced his death on Facebook following an outpouring of global support from well-wishers who helped him celebrate an early, final Christmas.

Thousands of cards and packages arrived at Jacob’s hospital, prompting his family to share the toys and gifts with the other sick children, news outlets reported.

“Each and every person who sent Jacob a Christmas card, a gift, a Facebook message or video, or a prayer made a difference in the final days of his life,” the family’s statement read. “You brought Jacob joy, and you brought us all optimism for the future.”

Passport videos. The Postal Service has released two videos to educate customers on obtaining passports.

The first video, which lasts 1 minute, reviews the necessary forms and application fees for first-time passport applicants. The second video, a 1-minute, 30-second segment, offers tips for parents or guardians applying for passports for minors 16 years and younger.

Both videos can be viewed on the Postal Service’s YouTube channel.
