The Ram ProMaster 2500, a recent addition to the USPS fleet of vehicles, is helping the organization meet its delivery needs.
The extended capacity vehicles, introduced in 2016 to replace aging minivans, are more fuel efficient than their predecessors.
USPS uses the vehicles for “park and loop,” when carriers park a vehicle and make door-to-door deliveries on foot; mail collection; package delivery; and relay drop-offs.
More than 12,400 ProMaster vehicles are now on the road, where they have won praise from employees like Bensalem, PA, Letter Carrier Scott Smith.
“I have been using this truck for over a year and it is a great fit for my route,” Smith said. “The shelving setup makes it easy to arrange your mail and parcels for easy access.”
In addition to the ProMaster rollout, the Postal Service is continuing its multi-phase initiative to replace the LLV fleet with state-of-the-art vehicles that are designed to accommodate a diversifying mail mix, improve safety and service, reduce emissions and produce operational savings.
