A couple who made headlines recently after receiving a second honeymoon through a letter-writing campaign appeared last week on Steve Harvey’s TV talk show.

Gilbert and Grace Caldwell, who were turned away from a resort in Poconos, PA, 60 years ago because they are African-American, were guests on the Feb. 13 episode of “Steve.”

Joining them via Skype: the Titusville, NJ, fifth-graders who made the do-over possible after writing letters to request a new stay for the Caldwells.

Harvey was so impressed that he surprised the students with a resort trip of their own to Great Wolf Lodge, also in Poconos.

“I think it’s absolutely phenomenal what you young people did,” he said. “You really made a super stance here.”

You can watch the Caldwells’ appearance on the SteveTV site, which also has local listings for the show.
