Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.76 percent during the week ending March 16, up from one week earlier.

Dakotas (99.17 percent) topped the districts, while Western (98.17 percent) led the areas.

Springtime snow. A springtime snowstorm has hit a broad swath that includes the Ohio Valley, Appalachians and parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The USPS Service Alerts site has the latest information.

Release the Dragons! The Postal Service will release its Dragons stamps in August.

The stamps, which USPS announced last year, feature four designs: a green fire-breathing dragon, a purple dragon with orange wings, a black dragon with green wings and a wingless orange dragon.

USPS will dedicate the stamps at the American Philatelic Society’s annual summer convention, which will be held from Aug. 9-12 in Columbus, OH. The March 20 news release has more information.
