Western was the area leader in scanning during the week ending April 6, while Dakotas finished first among the districts.

Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.84 percent during the week ending April 6, up from one week earlier.

Dakotas (99.26 percent) topped the districts, while Western (98.2 percent) led the areas.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail. It also helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

To see the latest results, go to the Enterprise Analytics site and select “Analytics Tools,” followed by “DES 2 — Scan Performance.”

Communications award. The Postal Service’s Eastern Area has been honored for its internal communications efforts.

The area’s Corporate Communications team was recently named a recipient of a Bulldog PR Award for its work to educate employees about dog bite prevention, safe driving and other matters.

The dog bite campaign included a holographic-style mailer that features an image of a snarling dog that turns friendly when the card is tilted.

The team will receive a gold award, the highest level in the internal communications category.

The awards are given by Bulldog Reporter, a communications trade publication.
