Postal Service leaders have a new tool to sign up Informed Delivery users.
Executives have been asked to complete an enrollment form and then download an Informed Delivery enrollment app. These executives can use the app to sign up both employees and residential customers from a USPS-provided mobile phone or tablet.
“It’s great. I love it,” said Great Lakes Area Marketing Manager Mike McInturf, one of the leaders who uses the app.
Informed Delivery allows consumers to digitally preview their incoming mail and manage their packages from computers, tablets and mobile devices. The free feature is a major component of the Postal Service’s strategy to add value to the mail.
The new app is part of the Sprint to 10 Million Challenge, an initiative to to reach 10 million users before this year’s National Postal Forum begins Sunday, May 6. Informed Delivery has about 9 million users so far.
The app uses a mobile device’s camera to automatically scan a potential enrollee’s driver license barcode to quickly get him or her onboard.
“It’s a lot easier than having to type it all,” said Great Lakes Area Operations Support Specialist Drew Mason, one of the employees that McInturf recently registered.
Employees can also sign up at informeddelivery.usps.com. Sign-up is voluntary.
