Tyra Clemons-Lawson knows there’s power in smiling.

“Some customers come in and they might have some difficulties that have nothing to do with me,” Clemons-Lawson says. “If you give them your positive energy, you will get it back.”

USPS encourages employees throughout the organization to provide customers with cheerful, helpful service.

These efforts, which include revitalized training and #PostalProud awareness campaigns, are part of the Postal Service’s broader emphasis on delivering world-class customer experiences, a core business strategy to grow revenue.

Clemons-Lawson says her smile comes naturally, and she’s glad it helps customers feel better.

“It makes their day a little simpler, eases their mind a little bit,” she says. “It makes me happy to be able to serve them.”
