Warmer weather allows you to spend more time outside exercising and pursuing other physical activities.

Summer is an ideal time to start — or re-start — a healthy lifestyle.

In many places, the weather is warmer and there are more opportunities to go outside, be active and spend time with family and friends.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offer the following tips to help you have a safe and productive summer:

• Eat healthy. Barbecue season is a good time to add more vegetables and fruits to your plate.

• Quit smoking. If you’re a smoker, summer is a good time to kick the habit. The CDC’s site offers several resources, including tips, fact sheets and more.

• Keep moving. Warm days allow you to spend more time outdoors fishing, camping and hiking.

• Be safe. Remember to protect yourself from the sun and mosquitos. Also, drinking water can prevent overheating and other health problems.
