The Postal Service has named this year’s National Engagement Leader of the Year Award recipients: Suncoast District Manager Eric Chavez and Pacific Area Deputy Managing Counsel Catherine Meek.
Chavez and Meek were announced as the honorees July 31 during a ceremony at USPS headquarters in Washington, DC.
“We exist because of our employees. Employee engagement matters, and it is crucial to our success,” Chief Human Resources Officer Jeffrey Williamson said at the event. “We acknowledge Eric Chavez and Catherine Meek and all the other honorees who are setting an exemplary model for others to follow.”
The National Engagement Leader of the Year Award, introduced last year, honors employees who foster enthusiasm, involvement and commitment among their teams and peers. The award is part of the Postal Service’s broader efforts to engage, equip and empower employees, a core business strategy.
Chavez was recognized for his efforts to foster a work environment where employees can thrive on a daily basis. He’s known for mentoring and coaching employees and holding team-building workshops.
Meek was honored for her efforts to help her team members do their best work each day. She supports employees through hands-on instruction and timely feedback.

- Central Illinois Operations Programs Support Manager Earl Clement (Bedford, IL)
- Shipping Products and Services Director Karen Key (headquarters)
- Greater South Carolina District Manager Darryl Martin (West Columbia, SC)
- Operational Applications Manager Robin Morrill (headquarters)
