Scanning, storms and address changes

Scanning
Western was the area leader in scanning during the week ending Sept. 7, while Dakotas finished first among the districts.

Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.93 percent during the week ending Sept. 7, down from one week earlier.

Dakotas (99.22 percent) topped the districts, while Western (98.1 percent) led the areas.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail, and it helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

To see the latest results, go to the Enterprise Analytics site and select “Analytics Tools,” followed by “DES2 Scan Dashboard.”

Storm watch. Hurricane Florence, the strongest storm in decades to threaten the Carolinas and nearby states, is expected to make landfall during the next few days.

The USPS Service Alerts site has the latest updates on postal operations affected by the storm.
