Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.73 percent during the week ending Oct. 26, up from one week earlier.
Dakotas (99.1 percent) topped the districts, while Western (97.89 percent) led the areas.
Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail, and it helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

Fall back. Daylight saving time will end Sunday, Nov. 4, at 2 a.m.
In areas where the change is observed, most people will “fall back” and set their clocks back one hour at bedtime Nov. 3.
Standard time will be in effect until March 10, 2019, when daylight saving time will resume.
Due dates. The latest USPS blog post reminds customers of important holiday mailing and shipping deadlines.
The Postal Service is offering mail-by dates for domestic and military addresses to help customers who want their letters and packages to arrive by Dec. 25.
Other tips include signing up for Informed Delivery to receive a sneak peek at greeting cards and other holiday mail, and viewing the shipping how-to videos on the USPS YouTube channel.
From October-December, the Postal Posts blog will feature packaging tips, holiday hours and other information to help customers meet their holiday mailing and shipping needs.
